OFID Scholarship 2019/20 for Outstanding Young Individuals from Developing Countries

Applications are open for “OFID Scholarship 2019/20” with an aim to support young individuals from developing countries so that they are able to pursue graduate studies in a development-related field.

The program, which is currently in its thirteenth year of operation, has to date helped over 50 young people complete their education.

  • This highly competitive scholarship applies to courses offered by any recognized university in the world.
  • The scholarship value amounts to US$50,000, comprising of tuition fees, a round-trip flight, health insurance, a relocation grant, and a monthly allowance.
  • This opportunity is only open to students from countries that are not OPEC member countries.


  • For almost three decades, Windle Trust International has formed scholarship partnerships with leading UK universities.
  • These scholarships target young people in developing countries who exhibit the potential to provide leadership and professional skills in their home countries within Africa.
  • Every year at least 20 scholars get an opportunity to pursue a one-year master’s course in the UK.

  • The Aga Khan Foundation scholarship program was set up with the primary aim of giving international students the opportunity to become productive scholars and effective leaders.
  • Every year, a limited number of postgraduate scholarships are given to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their education.
  • The scholarships are given on a 50% grant, 50% loan basis.
  • Each scholarship covers tuition and living expenses only.

  • The Slovak Republic’s National Scholarship Program is currently open to students from developing countries.
  • This scholarship gives international students from selected developing countries the opportunity to pursue full-time postgraduate studies at any public university in the Slovak Republic.
  • Benefits include a monthly stipend of €280 and a merit award of €50 monthly.
  • Recipients also receive a €35 stipend at the beginning of the course and €100 at the end of the course.



Call for scholarship applications at the SA-GER CDR - Masters and PHD

For applicants from Sub-Saharan African countries with an excellent academic record the DRD offers a limited number of DAAD merit scholarships per year.

Scholarships are available for full-time students of:

the different PhD options at the centre (PhD UWC) (next deadline 31 July 2015, online application platform will be available from April 2015 only!)

Georgetown University is offering master scholarship for Sub-Saharan African students. Students will take courses in international relations, international trade, international finance, statistics and analytical tools and history. In addition, students choose an area of concentration such as Global Politics and Security, International Development or Global Business and Finance. The scholarship will cover full-tuition for two years. Application should be submitted till January 15, 2015 for fall 2015.

Study Subject (s): MSFS is a two-year, full-time graduate degree program in international affairs. Students will take courses in international relations, international trade, international finance, statistics and analytical tools and history. In addition, students choose an area of concentration such as Global Politics and Security, International Development or Global Business and Finance.

Postgraduate Scholarships For Kenyan Students - The University Of Sheffield


Kenya Sheffield Scholarships 2014.
 

We are pleased to offer the Kenya Sheffield Scholarship 2014 to all Kenyan students starting a Taught Masters programme in September 2014.
The scholarships are:
  • £1,000 each for students studying Nanotechnology courses (jointly run with the University of Leeds)
  • £1,500 each for students paying fees between £13,390 - £15,410
  • £2,000 each for students paying fees of £15,411 and upwards
Eligibility and Award Criteria:
  • You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your postgraduate Taught Masters programme in September 2014.
  • You must be a Kenyan national or permanently domiciled in Kenya.
  • You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for fee purposes.
  • The scholarships will be awarded automatically - no application is required.
  • The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.
  • The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying via Distance Learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
Kenya Merit Postgraduate Scholarships 2014 (£7,000) 

There are two Kenya Merit Postgraduate Scholarships 2014 available for Kenyan students starting their postgraduate taught masters degree studies in September 2014.
Each scholarship is worth £7,000 of your postgraduate taught masters degree tuition fee per year, for one year of study. The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.

To be eligible for the Kenya Merit Postgraduate Scholarship 2014, applicants must be a Kenyan national or permanently domiciled in Kenya, apply for a study place by Friday 20 June 2014 and hold an offer of a study place for entry in September 2014.
The Kenya Merit Scholarship 2014 is awarded on the basis of academic merit.
If you wish to be considered for this scholarship you need to apply. Eligible students will automatically be sent details of how to apply from January 2014 onwards.
Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.

The deadline for applications is Friday 27 June 2014; scholarship results will be announced Friday July 25 2014.

The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) Scholarship Opportunities

The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), a state corporation with the mandate to supervise, regulate and develop the insurance industry in Kenya is offering five (5) scholarships to Kenyans interested in pursuing Actuarial Science courses at the Cass Business School, United Kingdom.
 
The scholarship will cater for tuition, travel, accommodation, and any other incidental expenses.

Scholarship for Master of Science Degree in Actuarial Management / Science
Eligible candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Should have obtained Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science (at least Upper Second Class Honors) or an equivalent Actuarial Science qualification
  • Should have graduated not more than five years ago
  • Should have made significant progress towards becoming Associate Members of the Institute / Faculty of Actuaries (Minimum 5 professional papers).

The Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board (on behalf of Ministry of Energy & Petroleum) in collaboration with the University of Nairobi is offering fifteen (15) Master of Science Scholarships to eligible Kenyans to pursue the Master of Nuclear Science offered at the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, University of Nairobi.

Requirements
The scholarships are open to holders of at least a Bachelor of Science degree (Upper Second Class Honours) or equivalent in the field of Engineering or Physical Sciences disciplines from a recognized University.

HELB Post Graduate Scholarships 2013/2014

HELB Application for Post Graduate Scholarships Financial Year: 2013-2014
 
The Higher Education Loans Board invites applications for the 2013/2014 Postgraduate partial Scholarships from Kenyan Students enrolled for Masters and PhD programs in local Public or Private Universities recognized by the Commission for University Education [CUE].


The value of the scholarship award is KES 200,000.00 and KES 450,000.00 for Masters and PhD programs respectively.

Eligibility Criteria:
Letter of Admission into a full or part time program in a local public or recognized private university.
Minimum of Second Class Upper Division.
Reporting for 1st year of study in 2013.
Preference will be given to applicants undertaking Science, Technology and engineering programs which will directly contribute to the national developmental goals aligned to the Vision 2030.


How to Apply:
1. Applicants should access, fill and print the Postgraduate Scholarship Application Form [PGSAF] from our website www.helb.co.ke;

2. Print two copies of the PGSAF;
3. Have the form properly filled, signed and stamped by the relevant authorities and attach all the necessary documents as indicated on the checklist on the PGSAF;

KAAD is offering scholarships to Germany for Master's, PhD and post-doc level!

KAAD is the German Catholic Academic Service for Foreigners. Its programme for sub-Saharan Africa is geared towards development of African countries and societies as well as development of qualified individuals.

Young university graduates, who have already taken over responsibility in church and society, should be empowered to continue along this line and do it in an even more qualified way. Beneficiaries of KAAD-scholarships are predominantly from needy families and display academic excellence. The ultimate aim of our scholarship policy is the promotion of so-called "Agents of Change”.

Requirements
  • Catholic Christian (or general belong to a Christian denomination). Candidates from other religions can apply if they are proposed by Catholic partners and can prove their commitment to inter-religious dialogue
  • above-average performance in studies and research
  • orientation of studies/research towards permanent reintegration in your home region (otherwise the scholarship is turned into a loan)
  • Religious and social commitment (activities) and willingness to inter-religious dialogue.
  • Master-scholarships should be of the maximum age of 30, while applicants for PhD-scholarships should not be older than 35.
Master's degree or PhD in Germany
This is the biggest scholarship programme for KAAD. An additional requirements applies: German language skills before starting the studies (KAAD can provide a language course of max. 6 months in Germany)

In-Country Programme
In the focus countries Ghana, Kenya and Zimbabwe, there is – within the S1-programme – also the possibility for Master-scholarships at local universities (so called “in-country scholarships”). The in-country scholars together with the alumni are convening in local KAAD-networks that aim at making an impact in church and society of their home countries.

Application time frame
Applications to be tabled in the March-session of the selection board need to be complete by end of November the previous year. Applications for the September selection need to be complete by end of June.
