Kisumu Kenya: Maseno University has entered into a bilateral agreement with
Nagasaki University of Japan for a period of five years that will see
both institutions develop academic and educational cooperation and
undertake activities that will promote mutual understanding between the
two institutions.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that legalizes the five year renewable bilateral agreement was signed between the Vice Chancellor Maseno University, Prof. Dominic Makawiti and President of Nagasaki University, Shigeru Katamine on June 21 2013 in Nagasaki Japan. The Vice Chairman, Maseno University Council Daniel S. Omino was also
present to witness the signing ceremony.
The mandate of the two institutions as signed in the MOU will include exchange of faculty members, researchers, administrative staff and students; implementation of specific research projects; lectures and symposia; exchange of academic information and materials and the promotion of other academic cooperation as per the agreement.
The MOU further states that the development and implementation of specific activities will be separately negotiated and agreed between the relevant faculties, schools or institutes that will be implementing the agreement based on the laws and regulations of Kenya and Japan.
